The exhibition invites the public into a contemplative space where couture, photography, film, and craftsmanship converge in an exploration of personal expression.
Conceived as an intimate reflection on self-expression, this exhibition explores freedom not merely as an idea, but as a state of being.
In a time when opinions, expectations, and constant noise shape the way we see ourselves, freedom becomes increasingly personal—the courage to remain authentic in a world that often pressures us to fit in. Through fashion, STELLARISSA celebrates the beauty of individuality, emotion, vulnerability, and rebellion in its most delicate form.
The eight featured pieces reimagine and transcend convention, embracing a more instinctive and personal interpretation of femininity, identity, and self-expression. Presented entirely in white, they evoke purity, possibility, and transformation while remaining open to individual meaning and interpretation.
Each silhouette unfolds as a gesture of honesty—unbound, emotional, and deeply human—moving beyond the conventional presentation of garments.
Material becomes a centralizing language in support of this vision. Organdy, lace, tulle, and duchess satin thoughtfully layered and reworked through intricate manipulation, meticulous work by hand. Multiple lace variations are deconstructed and reconstructed into entirely new compositions, creating surfaces that feel both delicate and intentional. Fragments of past creations are reintroduced and renewed, allowing memory and making to coexist within a contemporary form.
Experimentation with modern ornamentation is showcased in the material table. Formed of nine distinct beading materials, bouquets of feather-resin are entirely handcrafted—each shape individually sewn with precision using the tambour technique, creating depth in texture. Resin formed organic forms and shapes was created with natural stones mold with a resin-dip vitrification process—spanning over 40 hours of rigorous craft.
Alongside STELLARISSA and artist Galuh Anindita of MAHIJA, renowned photographer Indra Leonardi, and a collaboration with highly regarded visual director Reuben Tourino and artist Asmara Abigail, contribute their distinct lenses to this definition of freedom.
The installation unfolds as a collective reflection on freedom. Through photography, film, jewelry, artisanal craftsmanship, and music, each collaborator interprets the theme through their own medium and perspective. Rather than existing as separate works, these expressions converge within a shared landscape—where fashion enters into dialogue with image, movement, sound, and object. Together, they create an immersive experience that explores freedom not as a singular idea, but as a multitude of personal truths, inviting visitors to encounter different expressions of identity, transformation, and becoming.
