Stella Rissa
Born and raised in Jakarta, Stella Rissa’s passion for fashion started off at an early age. Jakarta—a colorful and diverse city—provided an environment that allows her creativity to flourish.
“Creating fashion for me doesn’t
only mean making pieces for wearing. I truly believe of a process of art
creating—for all types of beautiful and natural curves—in what I do. I’d like
think that our pieces evoke the inner confidence, for which our pieces become the
external expression and extension of. There is no force
equal to that of a determined human being.”
At LaSalle College International School, her creativity, talent, and disciplined work ethics earned her the 2006 Best of the Best Student Award—the award included training at LaSalle College Montréal.
In 2008, Stella debut ‘Dancing in the Rainbow’launched the eponymous label STELLARISSA. Noted as the first young Indonesian designer to pioneer a clean and wearable collection—in the midst of trendy era of heavy embellished clothing—Stella presented a fresh and new wave of visionary work. The overwhelming media exposure of this debut show boosted the label’s recognition abroad, earning her an invitation to participate in the 2008 Malaysia International Fashion Week and 2009 Audi Fashion Festival in Singapore.
STELLARISSA collection in 2010 Jakarta Fashion Week debut a mature and sophisticated portfolio. This consequently earned her title as a Dewi Fashion Knight—Dewi Magazine annual award for the Industry’s accomplished designers. The collection titled ‘Woman Possession’ represented a modern and contemporary point-of-view.
In 2014, Stella Rissa established the STELLARISSA Studio in Central Jakarta. A defining momentum for the label to establish root that is stellar woman—a language of juxtaposition of tough and tender.
Inducted into IPMI (Indonesian Fashion Design Council) in 2016, Stella Rissa received recognition and regarded as one the country’s fashion talent.
In 2019, Stella celebrated 10 years anniversary of her eponymous label. Stella’s signature design continues to empower and evoke the inner confidence of her Clients, the independent spirit of Women of Today.
In 2022, Stella marks her debut a Future Couture collection show as a recipient of Dewi Fashion Knights 2023 at JFW 2023
